TRAVEL INFORMATION

It's not the destination, it's the journey.

At Burning Man, it's the destination and the journey. We know you're eager to get to the event, but there are some fantasic roadside attractions and good meals along the way. For your entertainment and edification we have included a guide to the hot spots of Reno as well as some inside info on our host community, Gerlach as well as the wild horse community in the Calico Mountains just north of Gerlach. There's also a botanical guide to the Eastern slope of the Sierras.

For help getting to Black Rock City, veteran burners have outlined road routes from Canada, Los Angeles, parts of Nevada, New York City, the Pacific Northwest and the biggest little nearby city, Reno.

Ride-sharing can be an excellent way for first-timers to create instant connections with others in our community. For those who are car-less or don't want to drive alone, there are several resources available - check out the Burning Man Ride Share for rides wanted/offered from a variety of domestic and international starting points. Our Gerlach/Empire shuttle partner, the Green Tortoise, also offers bus trips from SF and Portland/Eugene to Black Rock City - and they take bikes!

Travel safe — and see you on the playa!
