ART INSTALLATIONS

The ARTery is the Burning Man Art Team.

On-playa, our headquarters is located in Center Camp and functions as a check-in center for artists, as well as a hub for information about art. Off-playa, we operate all year round, kicking into high gear from February to October to make sure that artist applications are processed and art-i-facts are catalogued.

Mission Statement

The mission of the ARTery is to serve and defend artistic expression at Burning Man. The goal of the ARTery is as an Artist resource center that facilitates the placement and display of art on the playa during the Burning Man event.

Be An ARTery Volunteer

Interested in joining us? We're a full-service department dedicated to helping Burning Man artists in any way we can. On-playa, you may find yourself:

• Working as a Concierge to greet artists and visitors.
• Registering art installation.
• Field Operative work with GPS (Global Position System) to place art.
• Escorting artists to their location on the playa.
• Helping an artist with an unforeseen problem.
• Fielding art questions from participants.
• Decorating the Artery and its golf carts.

Off-playa, we hold monthly ARTery meetings at the Burning Man office in San Francisco. Our internal groups include Artist Advocate, Operations, Planning, Art Tours, and Tech Team. We currently have over 20 members and we're always looking for more great people.
