transit.511.org can tell you specifically which bus and train lines you can use to get to BMHQ from any starting address at any time of day.
By bus:
- on the #15: there are stops on 3rd street within one block of HQ
- on the #22: one end of the 22 line is at 3rd and 20th sts. walk on 3rd St past Mariposa St
- on the #48: one end of the 48 line is at 3rd and 20th sts. walk on 3rd St past Mariposa St
By light rail:
- the T line, in part-time service as of 2007 January, has stops on 3rd St, within one block of HQ
By commuter rail:
- on BART:
- transfer to the T line from any of the downtown stations
- transfer to the #15 from the Montgomery St station
- transfer to the #22 from the 16th St station
- on Caltrain:
- HQ is actually a relatively easy (flat) walk from Caltrain's downtown station- head towards the ballpark by going on 4th to King (turn left). turn right onto 3rd street, cross over the small bridge, continue past the UCSF campus to the block between 16th and Mariposa
- get on the #15 from directly in front of the Caltrain station on 4th st, heading away from downtown

Coming from points East:
- Take 1-80 WEST over Bay Bridge
- Take your first RIGHT HAND exit (Fremont St/Folsom St)
- Follow the signs for FOLSOM ST ONLY
- At light, take a LEFT on FOLSOM
- Take a RIGHT on The Embarcadero
- LEFT on 3rd Street
- 1900 3rd Street is on the right, just past 16th Street
Coming from points South:
- Take US-101 NORTH towards SAN FRANCISCO
- Bear Right on I-280 RAMP
- Take the exit towards MARIPOSA STREET
- Turn Right onto MARIPOSA
- Turn Left on 3RD ST
Coming from points North:
- Take US-101 SOUTH towards SAN FRANCISCO
- Take I-580 EAST towards Richmond Bridge/OAKLAND
- Take I-80 WEST towards SAN FRANCISCO
- Follow directions above for coming from the East
