The Crucible's 5th Annual Fire Arts Festival
A Celebration Of Creation Through Fire & Light

A full program of arts and educational events throughout six days and four evenings, including lectures, classes, artist talks, and art demonstrations. The highlight will be the many fire performances and fire and light sculptures featured in the outdoor Fire Arts Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
All proceeds support The Crucible's youth and adult educational & outreach programs.

Burning Man's Desert Art Preview

FREE and ALL AGES!
This evening will feature artists creating work for Burning Man 2005. Grant recipients and local artists will speak about their plans, inspirations, challenges and how their work is ultimately created. Speakers include: Kevin Walsh and Jeri Countryman (LawnMowerMan); Christian Davies (Dicky Box); Pepe Ozan (Dreamer); Andrew Johnstone (Virtual Playa); Karen Cusolito and Dan DasMann (Passage); Charlie Smith and Jaime Ladet (Synapses); Mark Grieve and Barbara Honeychurch (Temple of Dreams); Zackary Coffin (Colossus); Robert Paton (Aeolian Harps); and Flaming Lotus Girls (Angel of The Apocalypse). The night will include an artist Q&A session and presentations by the Black Rock Arts Foundation, The Crucible, and Burning Man's Art Team. $teven Ra$pa will be Master of Ceremonies. See you there!

This unforgettable evening will feature an art auction, The Starlings' remarkable aerial choreography, the musical stylings of Rosin Coven and astounding fire performances by Apsara. Witness a live bronze pour from fifteen feet overhead and participate in the Fire Arts Arena Opening Ceremony, culminating in an exclusive preview of this year's fire and illuminated art installations. Fire Arts Arena Show: Lightning From Above: $25 ($40 for both nights)

This night pays homage to the legends of fire sculpture and illuminated installations. Our celebration of electrifying art will begin as molten metal pours from the stage. Neon, LED, and light sculptures by Jeremy Lutes, The Sun Brothers, Eugene Rominger, Gaspo and Cool Neon will glow as bolts of lightning rain down from the Tesla coils by THERM, Kelek and Dr. Megavolt. David Therrien will push the boundaries of the possible while he orchestrates the flow of electricity through the bodies of performers suspended 50 feet in the air. Dazzling fire sculptures by The Flaming Lotus Girls, Nate Smith, Dan Das Mann & Karen Cusolito, and an enormous Jacob's Ladder by Rosanna Scimeca will rumble and roar throughout the night. Featuring exclusive performances by Ultra Gypsy, Capacitor and the Vau de Vire Society. All culminating with an incendiary finale of flaming hula hoopers and a surprise band that will knock your tube socks off. Other performers include: The Von Stilt Family, Copper Lantern, Coven Fire Troupe, Summer Evert, Phoenix Rising, Pyrodini and more.

Fire dancers, eaters, hoopers and experimental performance artists galore. So much sensory overload, you'll wish you brought your tinted welding hood. Exclusive red-hot performances by F-Space, Xeno, The Nekyia, , Sinder the Wicker King, DJ Vordo and Micro-Kanevil, Molten magma erupts from the ground during a live iron pour. Back-to-back fire performances from The Fire Arts Collective, Enemy Combatant Dance Theater, Nocturnal Sunshine, Los SueƱos Del Fuego, Glitter Girl and The Temple of Poi, to name a few. Ending with an orchestra of sculptural explosions from THERM, Jack Schroll and Don Cain so spectacular, it will burn images on your retina for a week. Other installation artists include: Michael Christian, Wally Glenn, Bob Hofmann, Pyrokinetics, Christopher Schardt, Eric Singer, Charlie Smith & Jamie Ladet, Michael Sturtz, and Kasia Wojnarski.
